What is Physical Therapy?

Functional movement is central to what it means to be healthy.
Physical Therapy helps individuals to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout life. Physical Therapists provide services in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environment factors.

Will my insurance cover Physical Therapy treatments?

Each insurance plan has different coverage in regards to physical therapy; we will contact your insurance company and determine your benefits including number of treatments allowed, co-payments and deductibles.  We also encourage you to contact your insurance company to ensure correct information is obtained.

How long will my session be?

Each visit is approximately 30 minutes.

Will I be seen by the same therapist at each visit?

At A Healing Hand Physical Therapy you are kept with the same registered physical therapist from the initial evaluation through discharge.

How long will I go to therapy?

Each case is unique, your length of treatment will be determined by your therapist in conjunction with your referring doctor.

Do I need to see a doctor to come to therapy?

In RI you are able to attend physical therapy without a doctor’s referral BUT in order for your medical insurance to cover treatments a prescription is necessary and can come from your primary care physician, specialist (orthopedic physician, neurologist, podiatrist, etc.).

What should I wear?

We encourage comfortable clothing that will allow you to expose the area to be treated.  We can also provide you with shorts or gowns if needed.

Where will my evaluation and treatment take place?

We have private treatment rooms and a comfortable gym in which your treatments will be provided.

What do I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring the prescription from the doctor and your insurance card.  You can download paperwork, fill it out and bring it with you or you can arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your first appointment and the paperwork can be completed at the office.
